I love the smell of infringement in the morning

Journal Entry: Fri May 20, 2011, 7:59 AM

Hiya everyone, just wanted to let you know that there is a new wallpaper site up and it might be featuring some of your work...with out your knowledge!
Our usual categories and tags are fractals and abstract, so, check it out and see if you show up.
I know I saw some Lyc and some Cory Ench (molielectro) on there.
Tisk tisk.

Happy fractaling!

Didn't see any of mine. I did see a lot I recognized, but I couldn't tell you who made it.

I contacted this guy via Facebook and he said he is gathering wallpapers from all over the internet. While I know a lot of people out there are doing the same and I don't really approve of it, at least he is not trying to take credit for the artwork and says he will credit any artist who tells him which art is theirs, and is going to add a feature that people can use to identify their art or someones else and make the comment so they get the credit for the art.
I am sure he will remove any artwork if you ask him.
I have been doing searches Tin-eye and others to find my artwork out there, and so many times it is listed without my name or the name of the art or another person uploads it and takes credit.
Now I do not mind my artwork being uploaded out there, but I want my name and the artwork's name to be added. I have had many customers find me because they saw my work out on the internet and traced it back to dA. I don't think it is too much to ask for credit at least on wallpapers uploaded elsewhere.

I agreed to this as well (it can stay if he credits me, which he has). He pointed me at a tineye search for my wallpaper and it was really eye opening - it's been used so much in so many dubious contexts, so as to make this instance really tame by comparison. I also asked him to use the original image instead of the horribly resized and re-compressed version, and if possible to make the saved filenames reflect information about the artist etc.

Now if only deviantart cared about infringement reports: [link]

That is a great idea, when I send him the list of mine that he has, I will include a link to the original files!
